The Align GP750 Head Lock Gyro Review And Setup On The T-Rex 600

As the saying goes, “Dynamite comes in small packages”. I was a bit skeptical when I purchased the Align GP750 3D gyro for my T-Rex 600. Align claims that you can fly up to 90 size helicopters like the T-Rex 700 with this gyro. I was really impressed with the capabilities and performance of the GP750 gyro on my T-Rex 600. Absolutely no drift occurred when flying in heading lock mode. Pirouette speed is fast and stopping is quick and accurate. All I can say is that you won’t be disappointed with this gyro, but then the setup needs to be correct.

What I like about the GP750 gyro is the simplicity with programming. No big manual with sixty pages or complicated setup procedures, but only a single page pamphlet that includes all the information needed. The following setup information applies to my Spektrum DX7 transmitter, Align GP750 gyro and Align DS620 digital rudder servo. There might be differences if a different transmitter and rudder servo is used.

My T-Rex 600 flown with the Align GP750 gyro

Complete the following steps, and you will have an excellent gyro that works perfectly on the T-Rex 600 helicopter

Use the nearest hole to the center of the rudder servo arm for the metal ball joint. The second hole can be used later for faster pirouette speed, but I recommend the first hole for beginners.
The rudder servo should be installed the correct way around as per manual.
The gyro connector should be plugged into the rudder channel on the Spektrum AR7000 receiver.
The gyro gain connector should be plugged into the gear channel on the Spektrum AR7000 receiver.
The Align DS620 digital rudder servo connector should be plugged into the Align GP750 gyro.
Set the rudder servo mechanical correct. Read my T-Rex 600 setup review for the full procedure.

The Align GP750 gyro led status for the T-Rex 600 should be as follows

Green: 1520µs standard band

Green: Digital Servo

Green: Normal rotation
Red: Reverse rotation

The GP750 is set to 1520µs at the factory.
Use the rudder stick on your transmitter to
Select, and set it to green STATUS LED.

When using Align DS series digital servos,
please set it to green STATUS LED.

Move the heli and observe if the direction
of the tail rotor compensation is correct. If
not, please modify the NOR/REV Settings.

The STATUS LED color does not
indicate any setting here.

Green: Suitable for T-Rex 500/600/700 or
other medium size helicopters

Move the rudder stick on your transmitter
left until the tail pitch slider reaches the end.
Repeat on the right until the tail pitch slider
reaches the other end. Then press the
"SET" button.

When paired with a T-Rex 500/600/700, please remember to set the STATUS LED to green. If you want to set delay at the same time, please move the transmitter rudder stick to the direction where STATUS LED is red. With the DELAY STATUS LED flashing, the delay amount is adjusted by stick position from the center: percentage is 0% at middle stick position, and 100% at the end position.

Move the transmitter rudder stick to
the needed delay percentage and press
the "SET" button
