Overall quality
and construction
of the T-Rex 250
Super Combo Kit
I have
to say that this little
helicopter is the best
quality helicopter kit
that I have ever build.
No wonder Align is one
of the leading R/C
helicopter manufacturers
in the world. All the
parts are machined to
the highest quality,
perfection and
materials. The all-metal
main rotor head is a
work of art, and all
moving parts on the
rotor head run on small
ball bearings. A total
of 14 high quality
bearings in the main
rotor head alone, assure
for smooth operation and
a solid main rotor
assembly.
The 120º all metal
swashplate have two ball
bearings, and all ball
joints on the swash
plate are metal as well.
The lightweight carbon
fiber main frame gives
the T-Rex 250 a rigid
strong platform for the
two main shaft bearing
blocks, three servo’s,
gyro, receiver, LiPo
battery and main
brushless motor.
The T-Rex 250 Super
Combo kit is supplied
with three Align DS410
digital servo’s that
fits perfectly into the
main frame. The three
Align DS410 digital
servo’s are for aileron,
elevator and collective
pitch control. The
plastic main gear is
driven with a RCM-BL250
Outrunner brushless
motor, fitted with a
metal 15 tooth pinion
gear. This setup gives
the T-Rex 250 more than
enough power for any 3D
maneuvers.
The plastic and metal
tubing landing skids
will handle any hard
landing with ease. Four
rubber landing skid nuts
hold the landing skid
metal tubes in place,
and also prevent the
metal tubing from
scratching when
operating on hard
surfaces.
The supplied 15A Align
speed controller fits
neatly on to the side of
the main frame using the
supplied double sided
tape. The speed
controller is
programmable, and can be
programmed according to
your preferences.
The supplied Align GP750
gyro sits below the tail
boom inside the main
frame. The Align GP750
gyro is a high quality
3D head lock gyro, and
is also programmable.
This gyro can be used on
the T-Rex 250, T-Rex
450, T-Rex 500, T-Rex
600 and T-Rex 700.
My R6100e six channel
Spectrum receiver sits
below the main gear
inside the main frame.
All servo, speed
controller and gyro wire
leads run outside the
main frame to the
receiver. A few cable
ties hold them neatly
all together.
For a perfect center o
gravity, the 11.1V
850mAh Align LiPo
battery is situated on a
battery tray in the
helicopter nose. The
supplied Velcro and
battery straps keep the
LiPo battery firmly in
and won’t budge with the
any 3D maneuvers.
The T-Rex 250 has a
metal fly bar with
plastic paddles. The
main rotor blades are
made of rigid plastic,
and really show their
strength when looked at
the video clips on this
website. The metal tail
boom is firmly held in
place in the tail boom
mount inside the carbon
fiber main frame. The
supplied Align DS420
digital servo is mounted
on the tail boom with
rudder servo mounts.
The T-Rex 250 has an all
metal tail rotor system,
which gives the T-Rex
250 fast and accurate
rudder response. Inside
the tail rotor system,
nine ball bearings make
sure that everything
runs smooth. Plastic
tail rotor blades give
plenty of power with
rudder inputs. The
horizontal and vertical
stabilizers are made of
carbon fiber and ads to
the quality and looks of
the T-Rex 250. A
beautiful factory
painted fiberglass
canopy gives the T-Rex
250 a good overall look
that will turn heads at
your local flying club.
